"Yoga gives the energy to lead life fully and with enjoyment. Time spent alone in practice puts mundane issues in perspective and builds a fund of inner strength. Friends, family, and work all benefit." --BKS Iyengar
The second class in a series of six. We reviewed the purpose of alignment based yoga-- to infuse our actions with awareness, to create a "meditation in action".
Leading up to an asana practice, a few principles of practice were discussed: 1) build from the bottom up 2)focus on pairs of opposites that create balanced action 4)symmetry/balance create inner freedom and relaxation
Asana: the ones in italics are review (please see Class 1 for pictures) :
hug knees
Supta Tadasana
Supta Padangusthasana 1 + 2
Jathara Parivartanasana reps with knees bent
1/2 dog at the wall
Please take the time to practice these poses at home throughout the next week. Email me at herenowyoga@gmail.com with questions/concerns. Next week we introduce twisting asanas. See you all then!
